Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it smells nutty and looks golden brown. Pour it into your mixing bowl and whisk in both sugars until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Stir in the eggs and vanilla until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the mixture together until no more streaks of white flour are visible.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown but centers look slightly underbaked.
